पहिल्या डावात खेळताना विराटने २४६ चेंडूत धडाकेबाज २०४ धावांची खेळी केली. विराटचे द्विशतक, विजय आणि साहाचे शतक याच्या जोरावर भारताने पहिल्या डावात ६८७ धावांपर्यंत मजल मारली.
