ದಿಗ್ಗಜ ಹಾಕಿ ಆಟಗಾರ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ Balbir Singh Senior ನಿಧನ

ನವದೆಹಲಿ: ಹಾಕಿ ದಂತಕಥೆ ಬಲ್ಬೀರ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಸೀನಿಯರ್ ಸೋಮವಾರ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರಿಗೆ 95 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ ಗೋಲ್ಡ್ ಮೆಡಲ್ ಪಡೆದ ಭಾರತೀಯ ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅವರು ಅಪಾರ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಬಲಬೀರ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಸೀನಿಯರ್, 1948, 1952 ಹಾಗೂ 1956ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಹಾಕಿ ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. 1956ರ ಮೆಲ್ಬೋರ್ನ್ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ತಂಡದ ನೇತೃತ್ವ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ನಿಧಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಮೋದಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಇಡೀ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಜಗತ್ತು ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದೆ. ಈ ಮಹಾನ್ ಆಟಗಾರನ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂತಾಪ ಸೂಚಿಸಿದವರ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ತಂಡದ ನಾಯಕ ವಿರಾಟ್ ಕೊಹ್ಲಿ, ಅಕ್ಷಯ್ ಕುಮಾರ್, ಕಾಮನ್ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಕೂಟದ ಪದಕ ಗೆದ್ದ ಬಜರಂಗ್ ಪುನಿಯಾ ಶಾಮೀಲಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
