Maha power crisis: Centre says coal supply to state rose considerably in April
Maharashtra government claimed that it has shortage of coal which could lead to power crisis in the state. Centre clarified that Maharashtra is receiving more coal at present than in March this year. The Coal Ministry further stated that coal supply to thermal plants is increasing in tandem with increase in demand for power.

"Today, we have stocks which can run these power plants for almost 20-22 days continously...," the minister said, adding that the buffer stock has been built up. "Power plants are ready to produce more. They have sufficient capacity in the system. Sufficient contingency plans have been drawn up," the minister said.
