Suvendu Adhikari brought a public interest lawsuit against the decision to count the OBC community in the state before the High Court. He claimed that while other Backward Classes (OBCs) were not listed in 2011, Schedule Castes and Tribes were. According to the commission, they are conducting this computation door to door. Adhikari criticised that procedure as well.
By 22,986 votes, Left-backed Congress nominee Bairon Biswas defeated Trinamool's Debasish Banerjee in the byelection. Mamata has made the decision to step up vigilance and make necessary changes in order to leave nothing to chance. TMC's internal assessment indicated that the defeat was a one-off case of upset and the party's minority support base was intact.
Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay claimed that while the CPI(M) was in power, several anomalies occurred in educational institutions but that no one ever looked into them. He claimed that underqualified candidates were also appointed professors in different state-run universities during the Left Front government. He claimed that they were hired even though he didn't receive 50% on their bachelor and graduate exams.
Partha Chatterjee, who was implicated in the SSC recruitment scam, identified three opposition party leaders in the state before testifying in court. Sujan Chakraborty, Dilip Ghosh, and Subhendu Adhikari are the leaders of the CPM, BJP, and respectively. The accusations made by Partha were also visible in Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh's tweet 18 minutes prior to Partha's address.
