'Sharp surge in Covid cases globally, positivity rate over 5% in 8 states'

Expressing his concerns about rising Covid cases in India, Agarwal said, “There has been a sharp surge in COVID cases in India; there are 9,55,319 active cases as on Jan 12.” Noting a high surge in Covid-19 infections in India, the positivity rate has risen from 1.1 per cent on Dec 30 to 11.05 per cent on January 12, the Union Health Secretary said.

Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal tests COVID-19 positive

Union Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal on Friday tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19. In a tweet, Agarwal informed that he has contracted the virus and said that he is under home isolation as per COVID-19 guidelines. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, he also appealed to all his colleagues to self-monitor themselves, adding that contact tracing will be done by the health team.
