Greece's civil aviation authority announced that it was lifting all COVID-19 rules for international and domestic flight. Some indoor mask mandates ended in Italy, including inside supermarkets, workplaces and stores. Masks are still required on public transport, in cinemas and in all health care and eldercare facilities in Italy.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation made the announcement in a circular by the office of DGCA. The circular added that some international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes. DGCA also stated that this restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved.
Centre has been urging foreign governments to ease travel restrictions for Indians in view of an improvement in the coronavirus situation in the country. "There have been some positive steps in this direction and we would hope that more countries take steps to normalise the movement of people from India," said MEA Spokesperson.
The Centre has facilitated the repatriation and international travel of over 20 lakh people through different means since May 6, said Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Addressing a media briefing, Puri said that under the Vande Bharat Mission, 17,11,128 people have travelled back to India. Another 2,97,536 people have travelled out of India.
