'Why did Kerala participate in Thiruvananthapuram airport's bidding process'
Centre on Friday asked why the Kerala government participated in the bidding process for the Thiruvananthapuram airport if it has been against privatisation. MoCA's remarks came after Kerala CM wrote a letter to PM Modi opposing the Cabinet's approval to lease out Thiruvananthapuram airport under the PPP model.

Ministry of Civil Aviation will place a proposal for "further" privatisation of airports before the Union Cabinet, said Minister Hardeep Singh Puri The airports in Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati were cleared for operation, management and development through PPP model in Feb 2019 In Sept 2019, the AAI had recommended the Civil Aviation Ministry to privatise airports in Amritsar, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Raipur and Trichy

Union Cabinet may approve privatisation of 6 airports in next meeting
While Varanasi, Amritsar, Indore, Bhubaneswar and Trichy airports operate international flights, Raipur currently handles only domestic flight operations. According to sources, the government wants to approve privatisation of six airports before August 15. The bidding process will begin after approval from the Cabinet.
