Melbourne: World number one Novak Djokovic has surpassed his Swiss rival Roger Federer as the highest prize money earner of all-time in the men`s tennis after winning the Miami Open for a consecutive third time.

Djokovic`s 6-3, 6-3 win over Japanese sixth seed Kei Nishikori in the Miami Open final pushed his on-court earnings to 98.2 million dollars.

Meanwhile, 17-time Grand Slam champion Federer has won 97.9 million dollars as prize money.

With the win, Djokovic completed the US double of Miami and Indian Wells for the third year in a row and fourth time overall.
