Indian Railways operates several trains using ‘Push-Pull’ technology, which involves having two locomotive in which one at the front and another at the rear. This setup allows for quicker acceleration, reducing travel time between stations.

India’s first Push-Pull train operates between Mumbai and Delhi, the 22221/22222 CSMT-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express. 

This train, featuring Push-Pull technology, is the first of its kind in India and reduces travel time, making the journey from Delhi to Mumbai in just 18 hours.

There are approximately 8 stops along the route, including Kalyan, Nashik Road, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Bhopal, Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi, Gwalior, and Agra Cantt.

This iconic Rajdhani Express represents the progress of Indian Railways, offering speed, comfort, and reliability to passengers, while setting new standards in operational excellence.

The CSMT-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express covers a distance of 1543 km in 17 hours and 55 minutes. It departs from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai, at 16:00 hrs daily and reaches Hazrat Nizamuddin at 09:55 hrs. On its return journey, the train leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin at 16:55 hrs and arrives in Mumbai at 11:15 hrs the next day. (Image: Freepik)
