Nishikori remains the only Asian man to reach the single's final of a Grand Slam - doing so at the 2014 US Open. 48th-ranked Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka is the only top 50 player from Asia in the men`s draw. Nishioka will face Andy Murray in the first round.

Kei Nishikori pulls out of US Open despite recovering from COVID-19
Nishikori had earlier withdrew from the ongoing Western and Southern Open after being first diagnosed with the novel virus on August 17. Earlier, Belinda Bencic, Nick Kyrgios, Rafael Nadal, Ashleigh Barty, Bianca Andreescu all pulled out of the US Open due to coronavirus fear. The US Open, which will be the first Grand Slam of the year for players amid COVID-19,is slated to be held from August 31 to September 13.
