It's Sania Mirza vs Leander Paes: Indian mixed-doubles specialists up against each other in French Open final

New Delhi: The mixed-doubles final at French Open this year will be sort of an all-India affair with doubles specialists Sania Mirza and her partner Ivan Dodig taking on the team of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis in the title clash on Friday.

Second seeds Mirza and Dodig survived stiff challenge from all-French team and third seeds Kristina Mladenovic and Pierre-Hugues Herbert to win their semi-final 4-6, 6-3, 12-10 on Suzanne-Lenglen Court on Thursday.

And almost simultaneously on Philippe-Chatrier court, the unseeded pair of Paes and Hingis defeated French-Czech sixthseeds Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Andrea Hlavackova 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 to set-up the mouth-watering final.

Paes and Hingis are the winners of Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open in 2015, and will hope to complete the set tomorrow.

The 42-year-old ever green tennis star, who has won every other doubles every doubles titles at four Majors, lost the mixed-doubles final -- with legendary Martina Navratilova -- at Roland Garros in 2005.

Mirza and Dodig are bidding to with their first Major title together. Mirza last won a mixed-doubles Grand Slam title at the 2014 US Open with Brazilian Bruno Soares.

And this the first time the celebrated Indians are up against each other in a Grand Slam final.
