'Will not tell you the secret to my beautiful skin', says Dalai Lama

New Delhi: Who would have ever thought that his holiness the Dalai Lama of all people would have beauty secrets? And he doesn't want anyone to know what they are!

Addressing a packed Guwahati University auditorium on 'Ancient Indian Knowledge in Modern Times' on Sunday, the Tibetan spiritual leader was asked the secret to his “beautiful skin” by the anchor woman. To that, he replied saying that he would like to keep it to himself, sending the audience into peals of laughter.

On occasions, "people said to me that in spite of my old age, which is over 80, I look like 70 and ask (me) what is the secret. I say, that is my secret and I will not tell you," Dalai Lama said in jest.

However, he did give out a snippet when he said “But the most important is peace of mind. Internal beauty is more important than external beauty.”

The Nobel Peace prize winner also pushed women to take a more pro-active role in social life.

"Women should take more active role for human compassion. My first teacher was my mother, not anyone else. Females are biologically more stronger," he added.
