Heart stroke results when you are exposed to high temperatures in combination with dehydration leading to failure of the body`s temperature control system. It is very necessary to be a little cautious and fight the heat.

So, one should follow these tips to protect and prevent themselves from heat stress and strokes.

Stay hydrated

Drink lots of fluids such as water, juice, coconut water as they keep you hydrated. And there are high chances that you might suffer from dehydration because of the heat. It is important that you sip water throughout the day.

Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages or alcohol

Reduce your alcohol and caffeine intake as both the drinks tend to dehydrate the body and can cause heat exhaustion.

Choose the right cloth

One should wear a loose-fitting, light-coloured cotton clothes in hot weather as it breathes and allows your sweat to evaporate. And avoid wearing dark clothing if you are going out in the sun because they absorb heat and that can be harmful for your body.

Eat light food

Instead of eating junk food, snack on a fruit or some salad, one should eat light food during hot summer season. Also avoid spicy food and heavy meals as it can cause acidity and lead to indigestion.

Use a sunscreen

Do not forget to apply sunscreen before stepping out in the sun as it lead to sunburns, tanning and pigmentation. Using a sunscreen also protect your skin from these harmful effects of the sun. But, always make sure that you choose the right sunscreen with correct SPF (Sun Protection Factor) factor for your skin.

Wear sunglasses

One should always wear sunglass that provide 100% protection from UV rays before going out as eyes suffer a lot during this hot season. Conjunctivitis, styes, dry eyes are the most common summer diseases.
