The accident happened under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station in West Midnapore district on late Friday.
The injured cyclist was taken to Midnapore Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the same day.
After the incident, the angry locals staged a road blockade and set at least 20 trucks on fire after they got the news of the cyclist's death.
Due to the protest, the vehicle movement came to a standstill.
After being informed of the incident, the police officers reached the spot and tried to bring the situation.
