Mathura: In a sad incident, a woman had to carry her disabled husband on her back to CMO office in order to get his certificate made. Said to be named Vimala, the woman is a residence of Mathura.
Her husband was a truck driver. A few months ago he suffered some medical problems in his veins due to which one of his legs had to be amputated. When the woman went to the CMO's office to get a disability certificate made for her husband, they were asked to get a photograph clicked. As there was no tricycle to take him to the photo studio, Vimla lifted her husband on her back and took him to get the shop, as per reports.
However, Vimla also says that she did not apply for a tricycle. Talking to Zee Media, Uttar Pradesh Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary said that such incidents were sad for a decent society.
In another incident in UP, in May 2017, a man was forced to carry the dead body of his wife on a stretcher after hospital authorities allegedly denied an ambulance to him.
The deceased, identified as Malti Devi, was experiencing labour pain when her husband, Mahesh, rushed her to CHC hospital in Sarai Akil. The doctors on duty referred her to another hospital next morning. Mahesh had claimed that no ambulance was given to them for over an hour. Subsequently, when the ambulance was given, Malti was taken to the district hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.
As per reports, the hospital authorities later too refused to provide an ambulance for his wife's body unless he paid a bribe. Having no money, Mahesh was forced to carry the body on a stretcher.
