Shocking! Class 8 girl raped, set on fire by neighbour in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi

Kaushambi: In yet another incident of crime against women, a class 8 girl died after she was allegedly sexually assaulted and set ablaze by a man, according to ANI. 

The incident took place in Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday evening. 

The police have registered an FIR in the case and a manhunt was launched to nab the accused. 

The accused, Man Singh, entered the house of the 14-year-old girl and tried to rape her, a PTI report said.

When the girl started shouting and her grandmother came to rescue her, the accused thrashed the woman and sprinkled kerosene oil on teenager before setting her on fire, a senior police officer said.

The girl was rushed to the hospital, where she died during treatment, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Pandey told PTI.

The accused man was arrested today, the SP said.
