Instagram app for iPad anytime soon? Here's what CEO Mosseri says

New Delhi: Instagram is available in practically every form factor. Instagram is available on practically every device, from Android and iOS to web. The iPad, on the other hand, is a platform that Instagram has avoided. So far, the corporation has refrained from releasing a standalone Instagram app. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has now announced that a standalone Instagram app will not be released anytime soon.

In response to Marques Brownlee, Mosseri stated that Meta will not create an Instagram app anytime soon because the company does not have enough users to work on a dedicated iOS version. "Yes, we get this a lot. It's still not a large enough group of people to make it a priority. "We're hoping to get to that at some point, but for now we're focused on other things," Mosseri says.

In a subsequent tweet, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom explained why a dedicated iPad app for Meta isn't on the table just yet. In the same tweet, Mosseri stated, "Each surface adds overhead; we offer iOS, Android, web, and IG Lite, with Android being the largest," adding, "We are leaner than you think." He was answering Brownlee's inquiry on why there was no iPad app for Instagram in 2022.

Notably, this is not the first time the Instagram CEO has been questioned about why Meta has failed to release an Instagram app for iPad. Mosseri had offered a similar response to a similar inquiry in 2021. "I spent some time on an iPad because I was on a flight, but there is still no Instagram app for the iPad." It would be lovely to do, but there's a lot to do and only so many people, so it didn't make the cut," Instagram's CEO has previously stated.

"We'd like to make an iPad app," he remarked a year ago, "but we only have so many people and so much to do, and it hasn't bubbled up as the next best thing to do yet."

Mosseri appears to contradict himself when he states "we receive this one a lot" and "it's still simply not a large enough group of folks to be a priority."
