COIMBATORE: A video of Tamil Nadu Minister SP Velumani has gone viral where he can be seen dancing. The minister was enjoying the festivities during the temple festival in Coimbatore's Kaikolapalayam on Sunday.

Along with Velumani, other male members can also be seen dressed up in the traditional attire and enjoying the dance.

Velumani is currently the Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and implementation of special programmes in Tamil Nadu. He had recently been in the news over allegations of corruption levelled against him, a charge that he termed as false and baseless.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister K Palaniswami and other leaders on Monday extended their wishes to the people of the State on the eve of Diwali. In his greetings, Purohit appealed to the people to brighten the lives of others just like how one lights lamps.

"Diwali, the festival of lights, is a day of rejoicing. People across the country celebrate the festival with gaiety and festivity," he said.

The Chief Minister, in his greetings, said, "Diwali is celebrated for the killing of a demon Narakasuran. Let the festival bring happiness and prosperity."

Regarding it as one of special festivals, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam expressed hope the occasion would get rid of the sufferings of the people and usher in happiness and peace.

Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Anbumani Ramadoss, greeting the people, said let the festival foster fraternity and peace among the masses. AMMK chief T T V Dhinakaran said, "Let the festival facilitate us to realise our dreams."
