WhatsApp to send privacy update reminders in THESE 10 Indian languages
Now WhatsApp has revealed that users will be able to view reminders in 10 regional languages apart from English for its privacy update. WhatsApp has restricted those users who are planning to choose those languages as default options on their smartphones. These 10 languages include Hindi, Bangla, Punjabi, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, and Malayalam, apart from English.

WhatsApp won't limit functionality for users till data protection law arrives
Days after the government directed the messaging platform to withdraw its new privacy policy, a WhatsApp spokesperson said the company has responded to the letter and has assured that the privacy of users remains the highest priority for the Facebook-owned entity. Its purpose is to provide additional information about how people can interact with businesses if they choose to do so, the spokesperson added. WhatsApp had been warned that necessary steps in accordance with the law will be taken if a satisfactory response was not received within seven days.

The central government's claim was made before a bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh during hearing of several pleas challenging WhatsApp's new privacy policy, which according to the platform has come into effect from May 15 and has not been deferred. The platform said there was no universal or uniform time limit after which it would start to delete accounts as each user would be dealt with on case-to-case basis. The bench issued notice to the Centre, Facebook and WhatsApp and sought their stand on one of the pleas by a lawyer who has claimed that the new policy violates users' right to privacy under the Constitution.

These things will only be available for just a few weeks as WhatsApp will eventually stop users from receiving incoming calls or notifications essentially cutting off services. Then users will be either given an option to accept the new policy or end up losing their WhatsApp account.
