Haldia fire: 3 killed, 44 injured in West Bengal at IOC refinery; CM Mamata reacts
A fire incident was reported in the Haldia Refinery of the Indian Oil Corporation in West Bengal on December 21, 2021. At least three people were killed and 44 were injured in the fire incident. The IOC said that the incident occurred at the unit of the refinery during shutdown-related works. As per the IOC statement, the primary cause seems to be a flash fire leading to burn injuries to 44 persons. Out of the 44 injured, 37 have been shifted to Kolkata for further treatment. The condition of seven of them is reportedly critical.

Kolkata Police’s first woman officer, 2 others killed in road accident
Armed Battalion Commandant Deboshree Chatterjee, her bodyguard Tapas Burman, and driver Manoj Saha were killed on the spot. She was the first woman officer-in-charge posted in Kolkata Police. She took over as the officer-in-charge of North Port police station in 2010. During her 32-year-long service, Chatterjee headed the Cyber Cell and Women Grievance Cell in the Detective Department of Kolkata Police and was commended for her work.

5 children die after falling in water-filled pit in West Bengal's Murshidabad
In a tragic incident in West Bengal, five children died on Wednesday after falling into a pit in Lalgola area of Murshidabad district. According to the locals, the five children were all aged between 5-10 years. They were playing near a brick kiln when they fell into a pit.
