Elon Musk Announces Twitter To Increase Daily Reading Limit For All Users Soon
Earlier, Twitter put restriction of maximum number of posts a user can read per day on the platform in order to stop data scrapping and system manipulation. The new limit of reading posts per day will be 10 k for verified users, 1k for unverified ones and 500 for new unverfied ones.

Nation can't run as per Twitter: IT Minister on FIR against microblogging site
Twitter no longer has the 'suraksha kavach' or statutory exemption from legal liability. Internet Freedom Foundation said that the "intermediary status" is not a registration granted by the government. Twitter was given multiple opportunities to comply with IT Rules.

Twitter seeks more time from govt to comply with new IT rules
Twitter has said that it intends to comply with the rules but needs more time due to the pandemic situation in India. Twitter's refusal to comply with the rules demonstrated the micro-blogging site's "lack of commitment and efforts towards providing a safe experience for the people of India on its platform".

Twitter strives to comply with applicable laws in India, says its spokesperson
The Delhi High Court issued notice to Twitter after a petition was filed against it for alleged non-compliance of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Twitter had said it was concerned by recent events regarding their employees in India and the potential threat to freedom of expression. MeitY asserted that India had a "glorious tradition of free speech and democratic practices" and Twitter's statements were an 'attempt to dictate its terms to the world's largest democracy.

Twitter must comply with new IT rules for digital media, says Delhi HC
Justice Rekha Palli issued notice to the Centre and social media platform Twitter seeking their stand on a plea by a lawyer, Amit Acharya, claiming non-compliance of the rules by it. During the hearing, central government standing counsel Ripudaman Singh Bhardwaj told the court that Twitter has not complied with the rules. The petition has sought direction to Twitter to appoint a resident grievance officer without further delay.

WhatsApp and Twitter’s war with government: What’s the future ahead?
Twitter had raised concerns over the `potential threat` to freedom of speech and the new IT rules have elements that inhibit free conversation. WhatsApp has sued the government over the new IT policies which say that these rules will eventually force the company to break its encryption. The future looks uncertain as the government is not looking to bow down in front of these social media giants as that has been on cards for the past few years.

Twitter working on new ‘Safety Mode’ feature: All you need to know
The social media giant hinted that this new feature will be a toggle for users, who will have the option to turn it on in a new "safety mode." Twitter described how the toggle will work if users turn it on, "Automatically block accounts that appear to break the Twitter Rules, and mute accounts that might be using insults, name-calling, strong language, or hateful remarks." The company also has some automated tools in place to remove abusive tweets, and it said in 2019 that it removes more than 50 percent of abusive tweets before users report them.
