Formula One: Turkey replaces Canada on F1 calendar in COVID-19 pandemic year

Last year’s wet and slippery Grand Prix at Istanbul Park was held in November and produced one of the highlights of the season, with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton clinching his record-equalling seventh world title. The race is the second cancellation of the year, after China, while Australia has been moved from March to November. The next two races in Portugal, this weekend, and Spain are without spectators.

Hamilton contract talks delayed after COVID-19 diagnosis, says Mercedes boss

The Briton has already wrapped up a seventh world title but is out of contract at the end of the year. After winning the championship at last month’s Turkish GP, Hamilton indicated negotiations would step up over F1’s season-ending Middle Eastern triple header. It is unclear whether Hamilton, who Wolff said had mild symptoms, will race in next week’s Abu Dhabi season finale.
