Banks including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank have begun charging a minimum amount of Rs 150 per transaction for cash deposits and withdrawals beyond four free transactions in a month.

In a bid to discourage cash transactions, from March 1, customers carrying out financial transactions at HDFC, ICICI and certain other bank branches will have to pay a fee if the number of transactions exceed beyond four.
