PSL 2021: Sohaib Maqsood and Rilee Rossouw power Multan Sultan to maiden title

Peshawar captain Wahab Riaz seemed to have the final controlled by the halfway mark but Hazratullah Zazai dropped Maqsood on 6 at extra cover in the 11th over which proved costly. Maqsood and Rossouw combined in a 98-run partnership off only 44 balls as Riaz and Amad Butt finished with identical expensive figures of 0-52. Both batsmen hit 11 fours and six sixes between them as Multan added 124 runs in the last nine overs and took the game away from Peshawar.

Faf du Plessis suffers injury in scary collision during PSL 2021 game - WATCH

The incident took place in the 7th over of Peshawar Zalmi's innings when Faf du Plessis collided with Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hasnain while diving to stop a boundary. Du Plessis's head hit Hasnain's knee and the South Africa cricketer fell on the ground.

Pakistan’s premier Twenty20 league was moved to Abu Dhabi for the remaining 20 games after it was suspended in March when several players and support staff tested positive for COVID-19 in a bio-secure bubble at Karachi. In the earlier game, Babar Azam’s unbeaten half century went in vain as Multan Sultans defeated defending champion Karachi Kings by 12 runs. Azam hit 85 off 63 balls, but Multan held Karachi to 164-7 through some disciplined seam and spin bowling.

PSL 2021: THIS Pak pacer ruled out of isolation for breaching COVID-19 rules

The PSL had been suspended on March 4 after seven COVID-19 cases had come to light. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) immediately put the tournament, which commenced on February 20, on hold. The PCB and the six PSL franchises had met virtually and decided to host the remaining 20 matches of the T20 tournament in Abu Dhabi in June.

PSL 2021: Pakistan's T20 League postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 cases

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan, Director-Commercial Babar Hamid, will hold a media conference at the National Stadium later in the day to provide further updates, the statement said. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said it had secured a small allocation of the vaccine after highlighting the national team`s international commitments and the reputation of the popular PSL during talks with federal and provincial governments. The organising committee called for a meeting a day after three positive cases were reported, including Quetta Gladiators batsman Tom Baton and Karachi Kings fielding coach Kamran Khan.

Dale Steyn apologises for calling IPL ‘money-centric’ in comparison to Pakista

Steyn’s apology came after he claimed on the sidelines of the Pakistan Super League 6, where he is representing Quetta Gladiators, that money is given more importance than the game in the IPL. Steyn had said that this was one of the reasons why he had not featured regularly in the event. In January this year, Steyn announced that he is opting out of the IPL 2021 but will play other leagues around the world. Steyn’s decision led to RCB releasing him ahead of the auction.

PSL 2021: Islamabad win match rescheduled due to Fawad’s COVID positive test

Quetta’s fourth successive loss at the toss continued a trend, as all 12 preliminary round matches have been won by teams chasing with all six captains opting to field first after winning the toss. Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad and Lahore Qalandars share a three-way tie atop the leaderboard after the conclusion of fourth round matches, with each having won three of their four games. Ashraf sent Cameron Delport’s off-stump cartwheeling off his first delivery before trapping Sarfaraz leg before wicket in his return spell as Quetta could score only one six and a four in their last seven overs.

Pakistan's bio-bubble in scanner after three more COVID-19 cases in PSL 2021

He said out of the fresh three positive cases, one cricketer belonged to the Islamabad United franchise whose player Fawad Ahmed tested positive on Monday (March 1) sparking a scare in the PSL. The PCB official also said that the test results of one team were still awaited. Islamabad United player Ahmed’s positive result on Monday led to the postponement of their match against Quetta Gladiators.

PSL 2021: THIS cricketer tests COVID-19 positive, match rescheduled

Last week there had been an instance of bubble breach when Peshawar Zalmi head coach Darren Sammy and captain Wahab Riaz had unknowingly met team owner Javed Afridi. The Peshawar Zalmi duo were quarantined briefly before being reinstated amid alleged threats of a boycott by the franchise – something that the PCB denies. All remaining members of Islamabad United and the entire Quetta Gladiators squad tested negative, the PCB said.
