Private trains: Indian Railways finds 102 applications eligible for operations
Out of 120 applications received from private players to run private trains, 102 applications have been found eligible A few of these companies whose applications have been found eligible include IRCTC, GMR Highways, Gateway Rail Freight, IRB Infrastructures Developers, and WELSPUN Enterprise This is the first major initiative of attracting private investment for running passenger trains over the Indian Railway Network

23 players attend pre-application meeting on running private trains in India
Ministry of Railways has invited 12 RFQ from private players to run passenger trains on 109 important routes. These new trains will be over and above the existing ones operated on the network. This is the first initiative of private investment for running passenger trains on the Railways network.

Railway gets good response on pvt player train project; 16 firms participate
The project will run on the public-private partnership and the ministry is of the view that the mega project would bring new technologies, boost revenues, and increase job opportunities The issues and concerns raised by prospective applicants were discussed and clarifications were provided by the officials of the Ministry of Railways and NITI Aayog This is the first initiative of private investment for running passenger trains over Indian Railway Network. The ministry hopes it would entail a private sector investment of about Rs 30,000 crore

Indian Railways to provide confirmed tickets, operate private trains soon
The Modi government has given the go-ahead to complete restructuring of the Railway Board and merging its different cadres and departments into a single entity. It has also been decided that the railways will ensure confirmed tickets to wait-listed passengers, especially on busy routes like Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata, Delhi-Chennai etc.
