The COVID-19 pandemic-postponed Tokyo Olympics is already underway and India athletes will be seen in action from Friday (July 23). Indian athletes in the Olympic village are fighting a dual war, and are under pressure. First is the pressure of the approaching games which start in two days and the second is that of Covid-19. But most of them are remaining focussed about performing at the biggest sporting stage. Bus driver’s daughter Pranati Nayak wins gymnastics quota for Tokyo Olympics

Since the quota is by name (nominative), it can’t be changed. According to an official of Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI), since the Asian Championships scheduled to be held in the last week of May in Tokyo was cancelled due to pandemic, the unused continental quotas were reallocated to the eligible athlete from the Asian zone only.

Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast: Indian gymnasts impress in Subdivision 1

The Indian artistic gymnastics trio of Pranati Das, Aruna Reddy and Pranati Nayak on Friday registered decent scores, beating Sri Lanka in Subdivision 1 with a total score of 128.975 at the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Australia's Gold Coast.
