Stop eating onion, stop eating garlic and meat, everything will be saved: Azam
Azam Khan further said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's comment on onion is her message to the nation to stop eating onions. The prices of onions have been on the rise in many states in the country, which has even sparked protests among the people.

Onion price reaches record high, being sold at Rs 150/kg in Bengal, Hyderabad
Onion, the kitchen staple, is currently being sold at Rs 150 per kg in West Bengal and Hyderabad while in Bhubaneswar, Kota and Chandigarh, it is priced at Rs 120 per kg.

I don't eat much of onion: Sitharaman amid debate over soaring retail prices
Onion prices soared to Rs 140 per kg in various markets in West Bengal while it touched Rs 150 per kg in Hyderabad. Due to sky-rocketing price, onion theft has also been reported from various parts of the country. Just recently, a farmer in Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur alleged that his onion crop worth Rs 30,000 was uprooted and stolen from his field by thieves.

Onion crop worth Rs 30,000 stolen from farmer's field in Madhya Pradesh
Farmer Jitendra Kumar has registered a complaint with the police in this regard and said that onions were sown on 1.6 acre of land and as he was planning to harvest the crop, it was stolen by thieves.
