EC raps SSPs of Mainpuri, Etawah for 'violation of order', warns of action

Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll: The EC was acting on petitions from Samajwadi Party (SP) on the Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-election. The commission also asked to "immediately relieve" six police sub-inspectors from their respective police stations in Mainpuri.

Lucknow District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash said that the Samajwadi Party`s virtual rally was held without prior permission. "Upon receiving information, a police team was sent to the SP office. Action is being taken on the basis of their report," he said, adding that Section 144 is in force in the state capital.
