Sensex dips by 164 points as Coronavirus jitters grip D-Street

Equity benchmark indices ended in the negative territory on Friday due to profit-booking by traders amid worries over economic damage from the coronavirus outbreak. Fitch Ratings said the ongoing contagion will dampen growth in China -- the world`s second-largest economy -- but the scale of the impact remains uncertain and will depend on the duration and intensity of the health crisis.

Sensex, Nifty end in green after Budget day sell-off

The Sensex closed at 39,872.31, higher by 136.78 points and the Nifty gained 62 points to settle at 11,724.05. Nifty PSU Bank index lost 2.46 per cent, the most among the sectoral indices.

Sensex gains 100 points, Nifty near 12,100; auto, telecom stocks in focus

Equity benchmark indices traded slightly higher during early hours on Monday following Asian stocks which were up on rise in manufacturing activity in China. At 10:15 am, the BSE S&P Sensex edged higher by 97 points to 40,891 while the Nifty 50 inched up by 19 points at 12,075.

Nifty, Sensex tick up; PSU banks lead gains

Shares edged higher on Monday, driven mostly by a surge in banking stocks after the top court last week provided relief to lenders in a case related to a steel company and on hopes of more support from the government towards ailing sectors. The Supreme Court on Friday cleared the path for steelmaker ArcelorMittal SA to take over bankrupt Essar Steel, and the judgment comes as a big reprieve for banks which are struggling with bad loans worth $140 billion.

Market opens on positive note; Sensex up at 62.59 points

Market opens on a positive note on Friday. The 30-share BSE Sensex was 62.59 points up at 40,191.64, while Nifty was up 10.80 points at 11,888.30. Among major gainers include Bharti Infratel, ITC, ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra, HDFC, Britannia, Hero MotoCorp, while losers were Yes Bank, ONGC, BPCL, Bajaj Auto and RIL.

Stocks extend record run for second day, Sensex ends at fresh record high

BSE Sensex on Tuesday ended at a fresh record high of 38,896.63 after jumping up by 202 points. The NSE Nifty also ended above the 11,700-mark for the first time.
