On Thursday (July 29) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) officials informed that the International Space Station (ISS) was thrown briefly out of control when jet thrusters of a newly arrived Russian research module inadvertently fired a few hours after it was docked to the orbiting outpost. In this collection of pictures, we take a look at the magnificent ISS situated at the edge of space.
The spacecraft lifted off from NASA`s Kennedy Space Center, Florida, at 5.49 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (0949 GMT) It was the first time that Elon Musk`s SpaceX reused a capsule and a rocket to launch astronauts The spacecraft is due to arrive at the ISS early Saturday following a flight of over 23 hours
The research was carried out at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology The crew of scientists and researchers also included a team from India's University of Hyderabad Astronauts from various crews have been collecting the samples from eight different spots on the space station since 2014
The toilet is scheduled to launch, along with other cargo, on Northrop Grumman`s contract resupply mission to ISS from NASA`s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on September 29. The new space toilet that NASA is sending, called the Universal Waste Management System (UWMS), will be smaller, more comfortable and support a larger crew. NASA will test it out before using a similar system on future Moon and Mars missions.
Astronaut Jeanette Epps is set to create history by becoming the first black woman to serve as an International Space Station (ISS) crew member. Epss has been selected by NASA for a 2021 mission aboard Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner spacecraft. According to NASA, Epps will join astronauts Sunita Williams and Josh Cassada for a six-month expedition to the ISS.
