Defence forces celebrate 75th Infantry Day in Jammu and Kashmir – In pics

The Indian Army and Air Force celebrated 75 years of induction and arrival of the forces at Srinagar airport in 1947 to save Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan. It was 75 years ago on this day that the first air force landing took place at Budgam.

Infantry Day: CDS, Army Chief pay tributes at National War Memorial

CDS General Bipin Rawat and Army chief General MM Naravane paid tributes at the National War Memorial on Infantry Day Infantry Day is observed as a remembrance of the first military event of independent India, when the Indian Army repelled the first attack on Indian soil on October 27, 1947, in the Kashmir Valley. The victory was accomplished by the personnel of the First Battalion of the Sikh Regiment.
