Airtel to acquire Vodafone's 4.7% stake in Indus Towers for Rs 2,388 crore

Bharti Airtel had said it will buy Vodafone's 4.7 per cent stake on the condition that the proceeds will be used for investment in Vodafone Idea. Indus Towers, formerly Bharti Infratel, provides passive telecom infrastructure.

Vodafone looks to sell stake worth $2.5 billion in Indus Towers

Vodafone Idea's troubles have been compounded by huge dues owed to the Indian government. The British firm said on Wednesday it was in advanced talks with one of Indus`s largest shareholders to sell a 4.7% stake in the company. The company did not provide a name, but media reported Vodafone was in talks to sell a 5% stake in Indus to Bharti Airtel.

Bharti Airtel will hold 36.7 per cent stake in the merged entity. Vodafone UK (28.2 per cent), Providence Equity Partners (3.2 per cent). This will be based on 60 days volume weighted average price (VWAP) as at closing date and agreed closing adjustments.
