Kiren Rijiju lays foundation stones for various sports facilities in Leh

Rijiju also laid foundation for a synthetic track and astroturf for football in Lehat Open Stadium and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 10.68 crore. As part of month-and-half-long Fit India Freedom Run from August 15 to October 2, the Sports Minister personally participated in Cyclothon earlier in the day. The Sports Minister stressed that Khelo India, University Games and Winter Games are encouraging the students, youth and people to take part in sporting activities.

Shuttler Chirag Shetty highlights benefits of running at Fit India Freedom Run

Organised by the Sports Ministry, Fit India Freedom Run is the largest country-wide run, which began on August 14 and will go on till October 2. Chirag Shetty's comments came during a recent online interaction organised by he Sports Authority of India (SAI) regional center in Mumbai. The 23-year-old was among 27 sportspersons who were honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Awards in 2020 at the virtual National Sports Awards ceremony last month.

Paddler Madhurika Patkar appeals all to participate in Fit India Freedom Run

Emphasizing on the importance of the ongoing Fit India Freedom Run, Madhurika said that the movement is a great step towards making our country fitter. Madhurika was among 27 sportspersons who were honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Awards in 2020 at the virtual National Sports Awards ceremony last month. The 33-year-old was also part of the Indian trio who defeated Singapore at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018 to clinch the gold medal for the country.
