Harry Maguire could return in October, says England boss Gareth Southgate

England manager Gareth Southgate said defender Harry Maguire is in line to return to the squad in October after being withdrawn from their upcoming Nations League games. Last month, a Greek court had found Maguire guilty of repeated bodily harm, attempted bribery, violence against public employees and insult following a brawl on the island of Mykonos. The 27-year-old was handed a suspended prison sentence of 21 months but the Manchester United captain has been granted a full retrial after appealing the convictions. England face Wales, Belgium and Denmark next month in the Nations League group stage encounter.

Southgate`s England have not played since November last year due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. England face Iceland on Sept. 5 in Reykjavik before taking on Denmark in Copenhagen on Sept. 8.
