Sri Lanka indicts 25 suspects in 2019 Easter Sunday bombings
The charges filed on Tuesday under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) include conspiring to murder, aiding and abetting, collecting arms and ammunition, and attempted murder. The Buddhist-majority nation was about to mark a decade since ending a 37-year-long Tamil separatist war in May 2009 when the suicide bombings in 2019 rocked the country. Sri Lankan police have arrested hundreds of suspects in connection with the suicide bombings.

Sri Lanka deploys 12000 security personnel at churches ahead of Easter
The security personnel include 9,350 police officials and 2,542 troops from the tri forces (Army, Navy and Air Force), he said. The St Sebastian's Church at Negombo's Katuwapitiya was the worst-hit in the Easter Sunday blasts that rocked the island nation in 2019 with 114 people dying in the church attack. A probe panel has been told that Pulasthini Rajendran alias Sarah, the wife of Achchi Mohammdu Mohammadu Hasthun most likely fled to India by the sea in September 2019. On April 21, 2019, nine suicide bombers of Islamist extremist group National Thawheed Jamaat carried out a series of blasts that tore through three churches and as many luxury hotels in Sri Lanka, killing 258 people.
