India's Paralympians presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an autographed stole on Thursday (September 9) during a breakfast hosted by him to felicitate the contingent at his residence in New Delhi. The Indian para-athletes returned from Tokyo on the back of a sensational campaign that saw them win an unparalleled 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver and six bronze. Jhajharia, Venkatesh Prasad in National Sports Awards selection committee
Devendra Jhajharia won a silver medal at the recent Tokyo Games, adding to the two gold medals he had won in the 2004 and 2016 editions. The committee will be meeting in the next few days to decide the winners.

Tokyo Paralympics: Avani Lekhara to Jhajharia, all Indian medallists so far
India is currently in 34th place in the medals standings at the Tokyo Paralympics with 7 medals so far. Shooter Avani Lekhara created history by becoming first Indian woman to win a Paralympics gold and also India's first at Tokyo Games. Paralympics: Devendra Jhajharia rewrites world record for Tokyo berth
The Tokyo Paralympics slated to begin on August 24, will be Jhajharia’s third Paralympics. He had won a gold at the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games, setting a new world record of 62.15 metres. He then repeated the feat 12 years later at the 2016 Rio edition bettering his own record with a throw of 63.97 metres and becoming the first Indian to clinch two gold medals at the Paralympics.

The award selection panel, earlier this month, had announced the list of recommendation for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and Arjuna Award.
