Co-op societies can't use 'bank' in their names: RBI

RBI said it has come to notice that some cooperative societies are using the word 'bank' in their names in violation of the Banking Regulation Act. Further, the insurance cover from Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) is also not available for deposits placed with these societies.

Use rural banks, post offices for cooking gas subsidy, Modi urged

In a letter to Modi, text of which was released to the media here, the chief minister said: "In remote and rural areas, people may find it difficult to access nationalised bank branches."
