91 tech companies lay off over 24,000 employees in first 15 days of January
In India, companies like Ola (which fired 200 employees), voice automated startup Skit.ai, dominated the headlines in January.In December last year, over 17,000 tech employees were shown the door.

Binance opens 2,000 positions for hiring, says CEO
Coinbase Global Inc said on Tuesday it would cut about 1,100 jobs. BlockFi and Crypto.com have also slashed hundreds of jobs. Meta Platforms and Intel Corp also tapped the brakes on hiring.

Coinbase lays off 1,100 employees amid crypto markets crash
The layoffs come a day after Bitcoin fell as much as 14%. Coinbase said earlier this month that it would extend its hiring freeze for the foreseeable future. Coinbase revealed its plans to add 2,000 people across product, engineering, and design in 2022

Bitcoin hits record high before landmark Coinbase IPO
The world's biggest cryptocurrency, which has growing mainstream acceptance as an investment and a means of payment, rose as much as 5% on Tuesday. Major firms including BNY Mellon, Mastercard Inc and Tesla Inc are among those to have embraced or invested in cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin topped $60,000 early last month, fuelled by Tesla`s move to buy $1.5 billion of the digital currency for its balance sheet.

Bubble trouble? Bitcoin tops $11,000 after $1,000 surge in 12 hours
Bitcoin topped $10,000 for the first time in early Asia trading, before surging above $11,000 less than 12 hours later to reach $11,395 on Luxembourg-based Bitstamp, one of the largest and most liquid cryptocurrency exchanges, and then dipping back below $11,000.
