Ramana people expect the court to stand as a counterweight to legislative and executive excess when Opposition is missing. He also said that non-filling up of judicial vacancies was the main reason for the huge pendency of cases.

PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the joint conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts today. The conference will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Chief Justice of India, Justice NV Ramana and Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju will also address the conference.
