UP: Muslims give over Rs 6 lakh for damages incurred during anti-CAA protests
Haji Akram, a member of the delegation which handed over the cheque to the administration, said that the entire community had come forward to collect the amount to pay for the damage to government vehicles and other property during the violent protests.

Anti-CAA protests likely to continue in Delhi today, 2 metro stations shut
On Thursday, at least three people died, several got injured and hundreds were detained after massive protests erupted across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Protesters from a wide social and political spectrum joined forces as protest marches and meets were organised at many places.

'CAA doesn't affect any Indian; those guilty of violence won't be spared'
Prasad added that the Act applies to the aggrieved Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis living in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who have been tortured due to their faith in religion. He further added that those who came to India in large numbers will be provided with citizenship under the Act asking 'why is there such hue and cry over it'.

Delhi Police to use drones to track anti-CAA protests after violence
Delhi has witnessed massive violence over CAA in the past three days. On Sunday, violent clashes erupted between the police and protesters in Jamia Millia Islamia University over the Act. The protests continued till Monday and a day later, on Tuesday, the anti-CAA outrage hit Seelampur and Jafradbad areas of north east Delhi.

SC asks Centre to reply on Citizenship Act, refuses to stay its implementation
A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice (CJI) SA Bobde and Justices BR Gavai and Surya Kant heard the pleas and ordered that the next hearing will be on January 22, 2020. Pleading on behalf of the government Attorney General Venugopal said, "There are four judgments of the SC that the Act cannot be stayed."

"Entry & exit gates at all stations have been opened. Normal services have resumed in all stations," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announed taking to micro-blogging site Twitter.

Anti-CAA protests live updates: TMC workers resort to violence in WB's Birbhum
On Wednesday, six people were arrested in connection with the case and three cases were registered for arson and violence. The Delhi Police also conducted raids to apprehend some other people who have also been identified.

59 petitions on Citizenship Act to be heard by Supreme Court today
The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was passed by both the Houses of the Parliament last week and hours later, it became an Act after President Ram Nath Kovind's nod. Ever since the passage of CAB in the Parliament, the country has witnessed several violent protests in most of the states, particularly in Assam, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Anti-CAA protests: SC directs petitioners to approach respective HCs
The court directed that the concerned High Courts will be at liberty to appoint former judges of either Supreme Court or High Court for the purpose of the inquiry. It also added that having regard to the nature of the matter and the vast disputed area, we find it would not be feasible to appoint a single committee to go into the matter in different states.

No bullet fired by Delhi Police during Jamia protests against CAA: MHA sources
Ten people, having criminal backgrounds, were on Tuesday arrested in connection with the violent protests between the Delhi Police and students of Jamia Millia Islamia University. Among those arrested, none are students, the police said.
