PM Narendra Modi addressed the 14th BRICS summit on Thursday and said that member nations have a similar approach regarding the governance of the global economy. Prime Minister Modi in his address highlighted multiple areas of cooperation between BRICS nations. The 14th BRICS summit is being hosted by China in a virtual mode.
The 14th summit of BRICS nations - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - will be held in Beijing on June 23 via video link. Chinese President Xi Jinping will chair the summit, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said. PM Narendra Modi along with Russian President Vladimir Putin and leaders of Brazil and South Africa are expected to take part in the summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeps the focus on closer bilateral trade and investment between nations of the BRICS grouping (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) during he hosts the 13th BRICS Summit on September 9. At the leaders’ meeting, Modi pushes for further reduction in barriers in trade and the development of multilateral trading rules and re-orient markets to increase trade turnover within BRICS.
India stressed the need for taking concrete collective global actions against the environment and climate challenge. The meeting was held virtually at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, under the chair of India. The meeting was preceded by the BRICS Joint Working Group on Environment meeting on August 26.
