Armenian leader sees no quick diplomatic solution in Nagorno-Karabakh
Armenia`s prime minister said he saw no possibility of a diplomatic solution at this stage in the conflict with Azerbaijan over the mountain enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh. His comments, after Azerbaijan`s president said he believed the conflict could be solved militarily, increased doubts over a diplomatic initiative by major powers to bring peace to the South Caucasus region.

Armenian-Azerbaijan war: Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire jeopardised
A new ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh appeared to be in jeopardy on Monday, with ethnic Armenian forces and Azerbaijan accusing each other of renewed shelling. The ceasefire was agreed on October 17 (Saturday) after a deal brokered by Russia a week earlier failed to halt the worst fighting in the South Caucasus since the 1990s. More than 1,000 people have been killed since fighting began on September 27.

Armenia, Azerbaijan agreed to a ceasefire starting Saturday midnight, prisoners will be exchanged and bodies of those killed in the conflict will be handed over. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made the statement after a 10-hour-long talk with both the Armenian and Azeri counterparts in Moscow on Friday. At least 400 people have been killed in the war between the countries since it broke out on September 27.
