Australia's Gardner, Lanning gain in T20I rankings after fruitful NZ series

Gardner’s series-topping 90 runs won her the player of the series award and lifted her seven places to a career best-equalling 18th position among batters. In the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings, Australia, England and New Zealand retain the top three positions with the West Indies in sixth place. Skipper Meg Lanning, who has been top-ranked in both ODIs and T20Is in the past, has advanced a place to take fifth position after aggregating 71 runs, the second highest in the series.

2nd T20I: Australian Women outclass NZ Women by 8 wickets to clinch series

Australia thrashed New Zealand Women by eight wickets in the second Twenty20I and clinch the three-match series with a game to spare in Brisbane on Sunday. The Australian women's cricket team clinched a 17-run win in the opening match against the White Ferns on Saturday. Australia will now eye to complete a clean sweep when they take on New Zealand in the third and final T20I at the same venue on Wednesday.

Australia win first cricket match Down Under in six months

Australia Women won their first Twenty20 international in almost seven months by 17 runs in a clash against New Zealand Women at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. Ashleigh Gardner anchored Australia`s innings of 138-6 with a superb 61 from 41 balls before Megan Schutt took 4-23 to restrict New Zealand to 121-7. Both teams have been in isolation for at least the last two weeks in biosecure hubs, with all other international teams likely to follow suit over the southern hemisphere summer.

Australian Women face New Zealand Women with ICC T20I rankings at stake

Australian Women will lock horns with their trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in a three-match series from next Saturday. Prior to this, reigning 50-over World champions England will take on former T20 World champions West Indies in a five-match series at home from Monday. Though top-ranked Australia will retain their top spot irrespective of the outcomes of these two series, second-ranked England can be overtaken by New Zealand.

Australia's Vlaeminck ruled out, Perry doubtful for women's series against NZ

Vlaeminck suffered a stress fracture to her foot on the eve of the Women`s Twenty20 World Cup in February. All-rounder Ellyse Perry was named in the squad on Friday but her availability is subject to fitness. Australia will face the White Ferns in three T20s and three one-dayers starting in late September.
