New Delhi: Young Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar made history on Sunday becoming the first ever Indian to qualify for the finals of World Gymnastics Championships..

The 22-year-old from Agartala scored a total of 14.900 points in the women's Vault qualification at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow.

American Simone Biles scored 15.633 to lead the eight-women finalists list, with Karmakar qualifying 7th, ahead of Alexa Moreno of Mexico, who scored 14.899.

In 2014 Commonwealth Games, Karmakar won bronze medal in the same event, becoming the first Indian woman Gymnast to do so. This August, she also won bronze medal at the Hiroshima Asian Championships.
