After Dutee Chand, sprinter Srabani Nanda qualifies for Rio Olympics

New Delhi: Yet another Indian sprinter Srabani Nanda has qualified for the Rio Olympics in the women's 200-metre event on Sunday.

Interestingly, like Dutee Chand, who has recently qualified for Rio Games, Srabani too is from Odisha.

At the G Kosanov Memorial Meet in Almaty (Kazakhstan), Srabani clocked 23.07 seconds in the 200-meter race to secure her Olympics berth.

The qualifying mark for Rio event was set at 23.20 seconds.

While speaking with Times of India, Srabani said, "I am very happy and want to thank my grandparents, parents, coach Nilamadhab sir and Tarun sir for being there with me always. I achieved the historic feat due to the love and prayers for the people of Odisha. So, a big thank to everyone.”

The 24-year old also promised that she would practice hard to win a medal at the Rio Olympics, which is slated to begin from August 5.

On Saturday, 20-year old Dutee also qualified for the Rio in the 100-metre event.
