Manchester City FC: Kevin de Bruyne's injury serves major blow to EPL giants

New Delhi: Manchester City FC's record signing Kevin de Bruyne will be out for at least six weeks after suffering ligaments injury in his ankle and knee in the League Cup semi-final clash against Everton on Wednesday.

According to reports, his representative stated that he will miss action for at least six weeks although it is too early to know more at this stage. De Bruyne was carried off on a stretcher in the 3-1 victory.

De Bruyne has been emphatic for City since his arrival and showed his class in the League Cup semis too after scoring against Everton. Unfortunately, the Belgian will miss the Cup final against Liverpool. He has played a major role in the League Cup scoring in every tie and given his impact, City will miss his services dearly in the EPL as they fight for title honours.

Kevin has already scored 12 goals for City this season apart from several assists.

The former Wolfsburg and Chelsea player is also expected to miss both legs of City's Champions League last-16 tie against Dynamo Kiev.

City are already missing Vincent Kompany as his leadership qualities have left a void at the back and with De Bruyne gone now, a lot of attacking prowess will lie on Raheem Sterling and David Silva to create chances upfront.

City are currently second in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Leicester City. Manager Manuel Pellegrini had said on Wednesday that he was optimistic De Bruyne would not miss the rest of the season.
