Chasing 144 to win and level the series, India were 15 without loss when rain stopped play. India bundled out West Indies for 143 in 19.4 overs after electing to bowl.

The match has already suffered a 40-minute delayed start due to technical reasons. Openers Rohit Sharma (10) and Ajinkya Rahane (4) were at the crease for India.

Samuel Badree for the second over of the innings. And Ajinkya Rahane opened his account with a single. Then a double. Brilliant running between the wickets, after Rohit gently played through the cover.

A single followed, then another double. Quick from the Indian openers. A single then a dot ball to end the seven-run over.

Then, play stopped. Gone dark, but no heavy rain.

Andre Russell started the second half of the match with a dot ball to Rohit Sharma. Ajinkya Rahane, at the non-striker's end, wanted to steal a single off the second ball, but was rightly sent back by Rohit.

Third ball, a bouncer, was disdainfully hooked by Rohit for a six. It was followed by a single. Tight run. Then, a bye thanks to a quick bouncer which continued to climb even at wicket-keeper's stead.

Then, a huge six from Russell over square leg. Bumrah erred in length, and the short ball was dismissed.

Year's leading T20 wicket-taker Bumrah responded with an unplayable yorker. A dot ball. But the next ball was tad higher, an attempted yorker. Russell failed to make the most out of it. Failed to timed the shot, and long on fielder restricted it to a single.

MS Dhoni brought in Ravichandran Ashwin, and the seasoned spinner got the better of Kieron Pollard. Carom ball, and trapped in front. The West Indian batsman tried to play from back-foot, but missed the trick. Batsman not happy with the decision, but got to go. Looked little high.

Back-to-back boundaries thanks to cut well timed, well placed shots from Lendl Simmons, to start the over. Ravindra Jadeja responded with a faster round-arm delivery, for a single.

Still a good score for Windies, considering the fire-power still left in their Armour.

Amit Mishra continued for his second over. Two singles off the first two balls, then Lendl Simmons, after a dot ball, played an inside out lofted shot, for a four.

Mishra responded with beautiful googly. LBW shout, but the ball missing the off stump.

A single, thanks to a lofted drive over extra cover, to end the over. Seven runs from the over.

Double bowling change for India. Ravindra Jadeja joined the attack. Brilliant one. Only a single, off the last ball.

After blocking five balls, Lendl Simmons took a single off the last ball, playing it square down the leg.

Bowling change for India, and Amit Mishra struck first ball. Flighted delivery, and a super-confident Johnson Charles picked up to play a lofted shot, only to find a  forward diving Ajinkya Rahane completing a clean catch at long-on.

MS Dhoni continued to employ Bhuvneshwar Kumar. A dot ball to Johnson Charles, then a double. Charles picked the length early, and lofted over mid-on for a four.

It was followed by a cracking drive, down the ground, beating Virat Kohli for another four. Then, a similar length delivery but little wider, and result was different. A dot ball.

Mohammed Shami on for his second over. A fuller delivery on the off stump. Evin Lewis played straight to mid-off.

Then the wicket. Evin played straight to Amit Mishra at short fine leg. Ball hurried to the batsman.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar continued for his second over, and back of length delivery to start. Another short ball, but this time, it was clubbed over mid-wicket boundary for a huge six. Johnson Charles in punishing mood.

A dot ball, thanks to a outside off yorker. A similar delivery, got an inside edge and MS Dhoni missed the rolling ball, for two runs.

It was followed by a wide yorker. Dot ball. Once again on the same channel. Another dot ball.

Mohammed Shami shared new ball with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. A dot ball to Johnson Charles, good fielding at backward point by Ravindra Jadeja. A single, followed by another, but Amit Mishra stopped a sure four.

Another brilliant fielding effort from Mishra to stopped another certain four, saving a couple of runs, at long leg boundary.

Shami once again sent down a short pitch delivery, but missed the line, and Evin Lewis played it over backward square leg fielder for his first boundary.

After 40 minutes delayed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the proceedings with Johnson Charles facing the first ball. A full length delivery for a naught. Another dot ball, then first runs — a boundary, pulled in front of square. Almost a six.

A single, then a double to Evin Lewis, thanks to slow movement from Indian fielder at mid-off.

The American leg of India's West Indies tour will wind up with the second and final Twenty20 International match at Lauderhill today. After losing a nerve-wrecking match yesterday by one run, the onus will be on India to right the wrong.

The match prominently featured MS Dhoni, the celebrated 'Captain Cool' losing a close match which may well proved to his chagrin. And in the second match of the hurriedly arranged fixture, India stand to lose the glitters that the team under Virat Kohli has earned in the West Indies, in the Tests series, if it falters in the more popular format with dedicated fans, read Indian diaspora, rooting for a superlative show.

Yesterday, an unheralded Lokesh Rahul produced probably the greatest innings of his short international career, and fans will look for a repeat act. Coming in for regular Shikhar Dhawan might well be considered a temporary affair, but it's up to him now to make it a permanent one.

The case with Virat Kohli is nothing to worry. He played some sumptuous shots in his brief stay, but was unlucky to get out in a cheeky fashion. The same can be said of skipper Dhoni, who found the wrong shot at the wrong time.

Rohit Sharma played an important inning, only in a losing cause, and he will be eager to see a different outcome in today's match.

For bowlers, it was an altogether different case with none striking the right note from the start. With a small ground, and against a marauding West Indies batting line-up, they were exposed like never before.

If India are to win today, Ravichandran Ashwin & Co will need to give more than 100%.

For West Indies, the absence of Chris Gayle was hardly felt with two new openers doing the carnage. Evin Lewis, who was playing only the second T20I match of his career, was brilliant and got the all the making of a future star. So thus, Charles Johnson.

Luckily, India didn't get the best of Kieron Pollard, Carlos Brathwaite, and others — equally destructive.

Windies bowlers too struggled, once Indians settled, but it was Dwayne Bravo who had the last say in the match. Had it not for him, India would have successfully chased down a record total.
