New Delhi: Virat Kohli-led India on Wednesday became the world's top-ranked Test side after Sri Lanka completed a 3-0 whitewash of Australia.
India now have 112 points, while Pakistan in second have 111.
In order to retain the number one position, the Indians will have to beat West Indies in the last Test at Port of Spain.
Steve Smith's Australia have now slipped to 3rd, while England are placed fourth.
