Lodha panel: DDCA finds several faults in sweeping reforms

New Delhi: While the recommendations of the Lodha panel are to be discussed by the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) in the days to come, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has told BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur that several of the proposed changes were not acceptable to the association.

Speaking to The Times of India, DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan said, “The meeting was held on Saturday evening. Not all members were present so we communicated the decisions taken in the meeting over the next few days. That's why we have only sent our decisions to BCCI on Wednesday."

Here are the few objections raised by DDCA:

In its letter to the Indian board, DDCA has expressed its support for the controversial `proxy voting' system which has been used in Delhi cricket for many decades now.

The association is totally against the decision to implement `one person, one post' across the board.

It also is opposed to bringing the state units under the RTI Act.

DDCA has said that cricket stadiums cannot be used to organise other sports, because by doing so, they will become unfit for international and domestic matches.

DDCA has also opposed the 'three-membel selection panel' suggested by Lodha committee saying it's not possible for just three members to look after the selection procedure of the entire country.

Meanwhile, the BCCI's Working Committee is scheduled to meet in Mumbai on February 19 ahead of the Special General Meeting that has been convened on the same day to deliberate on the sweeping reforms recommended by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice (retired) R M Lodha Committee.
