World Twenty20: DDCA wants changes to Mukul Mudgal's list after omission of CK Khanna
Chauhan has requested Mudgal for some changes to the organizing committee list.
New Delhi: BCCI and DDCA vice-president CK Khanna found no mention in Justice Mukul Mudgal's 12-member organizing committee for the ICC World T20 matches to be held in Delhi, prompting working president and in charge of the event Chetan Chauhan to shoot him a letter.
According to a report in the Indian Express, Chauhan has requested Mudgal for some changes to the organizing committee list.
“Yes, I have written to Mudgal with my suggestions. I am not imposing or forcing anything, have just voiced my view and have requested him to consider these changes. The final call is with him,” Chauhan told the newspaper.
Khanna’s snub comes as a surprise and apparently several DDCA officials are unhappy with Mudgal's list.
“Khanna is not there in any committee but he would oversee all the work. Every committee would work in consent with him since he’s the board vice-president,” Chauhan further added.
Khanna himself though said the issue was being blown out of proportion when it was not that important.
“Ye bahut choti baat hai (this is a very small thing). I have so many things and departments to oversee and work with. There is the association, then the BCCI umpiring committee. So I will be overseeing whatever is happening and it hardly makes a difference whether I am there in the committee or not,” said Khanna.
A five-man panel comprising Justice Mudgal, Amrit Mathur (board representative), MV Sridhar (tournament director), Sunil Valson (former cricketer and GMR representative) and Suresh Chopra (DDCA official) will oversee the functioning of the the organizing committee.
